Yocum Employees Supply School Supplies to Residents of Wilder
Foundation’s Bush Memorial Children’s Center
As part of a benefit
initiative, Yocum employees are challenged each month to focus on bettering
their health through a variety of typical ways, such as walking and eating
healthier; but they are also finding creative ways to live healthier by finding
new hobbies and in this past month by volunteering.
Volunteering has proven to be
beneficial for both the person receiving the needed help and for the volunteer
themselves. Volunteering with people you know has been proven to make the
health benefits of the volunteer last longer and therefore be more beneficial.
Surrounding yourself in your workplace with volunteers sounded like a very
healthy business idea.
So, last month, Yocum Oil
Company’s employees from all facets of the company (retail, wholesale, sales,
and administrative employees) volunteered to provide enough backpacks and school
supplies for all the residents of Wilder Foundation’s Bush Memorial Children’s
Home. The Bush Memorial Children’s Home provides residential treatment and
on-site schooling for children who currently cannot live at home due to neglect
or abusive situations. At any given time, this facility can house 42 children
and they have a constant need for school supplies.
During the course of our month
of promoting this volunteer opportunity the employees at Yocum Oil proved once
again to be driven in reaching their goal, generous without exception and
organized in activity. The experience was enjoyed by all and very appreciated
by the adults and children of the Bush Memorial Children’s Home.
